Ray Chernly, DAOM, Dipl OM, LAc
Dr. Ray Chernly is a second generation acupuncturist. He was raised in North Texas and earned his Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MSTCM) at American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, and his Doctorate degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from Texas Health and Science University in Austin.
His father, the first licensed acupuncturist in the State of Texas, Dr. Chung-Hwei Chernly, chartered acupuncture research for the National Defense Medical Center of Taiwan in the early 70’s. His mother, Dr. Sunny Chernly, garnered several post-graduate degrees in Naturopathic Medicine, Physical Therapy, and Oriental Medicine. Together, Ray’s parents were instrumental in establishing standards and credentialing in the State of Texas, and part of the first cohort to be licensed by the Texas State Board of Acupuncture Examiners under the Texas Medical Board.
Ray has avidly championed issues of health and wellness with his work in the nonprofit sector. In his medical training, he interned at local San Francisco Bay Area hospitals utilizing acupuncture techniques in a collaborative healthcare setting, in addition to applying auricular acupuncture in a high-paced community clinic. He has also pursued advanced training in scalp acupuncture for neurological issues from the renowned scalp specialist, Dr. Jason Jishun Hao.
“I’ve had the honor of learning from true Masters of this medicine and the privilege of drawing from their decades of experience. It is my mission to continue the tradition of natural healing applied with current biomedical research to provide the best care and to help you improve your quality of life.”
